The "Gaden" on Christiansø island - former soldier quarter.

The tiny archipelago of the Christiansø islands - also known as Ertholmene - is the eastenrmost part of Denmark. The islands, close to Bornholm, were once an important naval fortification.

Today, less than 100 people live in the old military buildings, most of them in the former soldier quarters, called Gaden.

Gran Canaria: Roque Bentayga - A petrified storm - Cumbres de Gran Canaria

Miguel de Unamuno called this landscape in the center of Gran Canary island "a tremendous upheaval of the entrails of the earth; it all seems like a petrified storm, but a storm of fire, of lava, rather than of water.". An eroded volcanic slot forms the unique silhouette of Roque Bentayga, a sacred site to the Guanche people of Gran Canaria.

Palermo, "Four corners" / Quattro canti

"Quattro canti", meaning "Four Corners", once was the center of Palermo. Now it is thick with traffic. The facades of the houses are rounded - this is not distortion by a fisheye lens, just a rectilinear wideangle (15 mm)!
